Video storytelling trainings

Our training offers the tools, skills and strategies for organizations looking to advance their mission through the creation and sharing of authentic personal stories from your community. Rooted in the same award-winning creative spirit that drives our independent filmmaking, our multi-part training includes six 3-hour workshops where participants walk through the entire process of creating their own documentary ‘micro-docs’ using an iPad. Each session offers hands-on training from expert filmmakers as participants conceptualize, film, edit, and share their own short documentary pieces. We consult with the parent organization to develop a strategy for sharing the completed micro-docs through the organization’s social media and communications channels and provide resources guides to ensure long-term capacity to produce authentic video stories in the future.

Mobile Storytelling Workshop

Our intensive three-hour mobile storytelling workshop teaches participants how to capture personal and authentic footage and construct simple narratives that can be used to advance an organization's mission — all on an iPad or iPhone. We explain the basics of the documentary storytelling process and offer hands-on instruction on three essential filming techniques: video journaling, interviewing, and observational filming. We provide guidance on how video storytelling can be used in your classroom or communications, development and program areas, and offer strategies for reaching larger organizational goals. Each participant leaves the workshop with a list of recommended equipment and a resource guide.
