'Vuela, Vuela' @ 6th Our City Film Festival

Meridian Hill Pictures' short film Vuela, Vuela Mariposa will be screened at the 2013 Our City Film Festival. The film, made through a Meridian Hill Pictures media education program in partnership with the Mundo Verde Public Charter School, has been awarded 'Best Short Student Documentary' at the festival and will screen at 5pm on March 10 during the 'Our Heart' screening block. This is the third year that Meridian Hill Pictures’ films have been honored in the festival.

MHP leads Americorp Workshop

On Wednesday I led an MHP workshop with a group of Americorps volunteers at Habitat for Humanity. The workshop was focused on how art can create social change. The workshop formed part of a three-day seminar organized by the United Methodist Church and was entitled, “Becoming Conscious: Recognizing and Responding to Injustice.”

Two MHP projects at Silverdocs conference

Meridian Hill Pictures is excited to have two current projects featured in the conference portion of the annual Silverdocs Festival. Now in its 10th year, Silverdocs is the product of a partnership between the American Film Institute and the Discovery Channel, showcasing international documentary films and fostering public dialogue through a concurrent conference. Specifically, on June 20 and 21, Meridian Hill Pictures will participate in the Hackathon, an intensive two-day event sponsored by the Living Docs Project, in which filmmakers are paired with Mozilla web developers to produce a web documentary prototype. And on Saturday, June 23, Meridian Hill Pictures' students from the Arts & Technology Academy will participate in a youth media panel as part of the concurrent Schooldocs conference.
